    The knurled knob under the reservoir is a reverse lock. If the motor is down, you can turn it CW and then lift the motor up by hand (with difficulty). If the motor is lifted hydraulically, and you release the reverse lock, nothing happens to the engine. It stays tilted.

    Actually, once you remove both starboard transom bolts, the steering cable nut, all the PTT to transom bracket bolts and loosen the tilt tube nut, the transom bracket can usually be swung up to expose the PTT motor bolt.

    Is the primer bulb full of fuel? It needs to be. Did you replace your water separator or other filter recently? Those are better if you fill them with fuel, rather than trying to pump them up using the primer bulb.

    The impeller can change the smoothness of the driveshaft turning. I would pull the impeller and then check the gearcase bearings for smoothness. Also, some driveshafts need to be pushed down by the waterpump base and shims, to set the driveshaft bearing into it's race.
