    MPI Starting

I'll check that. They are both fuel injected. No water in tanks. Maybe that has something to do with it. Its just something I noticed the past several years with my 2004 6.2. I bought a 2006 last year and it starts the same way. They will both start without giving it throttle but most of...

    MPI Starting

I have 2 Merc MPI boats. One is a 2004 6.2 and the other with a 2006 5.7. Neither engine likes to start without the throttle being at "high idle" position. Other than that they both run perfect. No IAC codes. Is this pretty normal or is something out of adjustment?

Bravo 1 to Bravo 3 Conversion

Did a short WOT blast yesterday. According to the tach (Not confident its 100% correct) I was about 5k RPM at just over 50mph on the GPS with 6 people and a near full tank of gas. I was happy with that. Also did some tubing. I run 2 tubes. The boat performed very well. I did notice that...

Bravo 1 to Bravo 3 Conversion

I actually didn't hit WOT yesterday. I was just enjoying finally being out and we mostly cruised at 3-3300 RPM going about 30-33 mph on the GPS. If weather permits we will go out next weekend and let you know. My 6.2L with this Bravo 3 was exactly 4800 rpm at WOT. Hitting 57 mph. Its going...

Bravo 1 to Bravo 3 Conversion

Finally took the boat out yesterday after the new exhaust manifolds. The Bravo 3 performed flawlessly! Much better performance than the Bravo 1. Especially the maneuverability while docking.

    6.2L Smartcraft Connection Point

You are correct. This really helps me narrow down a part. Thanks!

    6.2L Smartcraft Connection Point

Bought Smartcraft for my 2006 5.7L Merc. Now I want to install it on my 2004 6.2L just to get the engine hours. I removed the end cap (termination cap?) on the purple connector from the engine harness but some of the pins have rusted off. Does anyone know a part number for this connector or...

    2006 5.7L Mag Overheating

Problem solved. Manifolds and risers was the issue. Guess I was over thinking it. They were original parts.

    2006 5.7L Mag Overheating

Brackish and some salt with raw water cooling. I dont know when they were inspected. I bought the boat last year and went out 1 time last year. Didnt have any overheating problems then. Not that it matters on an older boat but it has only 240 hours and was serviced every year. It was kept...

    2006 5.7L Mag Overheating

I don't believe thats what it is. The red hose goes from the seawater pump to the transom. Maybe its a check valve? I dont see that part on any diagram.

    2006 5.7L Mag Overheating

I've had the drive off and the hose looked to be in good shape. What is this in line on the intake side of the raw water pump? Is this a backflow preventer?

    2006 5.7L Mag Overheating

I've have another couple threads involving my work on swapping a Bravo 3 drive onto my Bravo 1 boat. All and all that's a big success. I figured I'd start another thread with this issue because I've determined its unrelated to the swap. The problem I've having now is an overheating issue...

Bravo 1 to Bravo 3 Conversion

Doesn't look like I have Bravoitis. Boat did not over heat when I took it out last year with the Bravo 1.

Bravo 1 to Bravo 3 Conversion

Still having the overheat issue. Here is what I've done the past couple weeks: - First time out engine overheated over 2-3k RPMs. Limped back to ramp at idle at about 180 deg. - Changed raw water pump to another pump that I just rebuilt. Great water flow. Ran on earmuffs for 20 mins and was...

2003 5.0 MPI stubborn overheat issue

Any update on your issue? I'm still dealing with mine. Its been a little frustrating. Going to install a new water pump tomorrow.

2003 5.0 MPI stubborn overheat issue

I'm still dealing a with a similar issue. The only difference being that I just switch the outdrive to Bravo 3. I bought the boat last year and went out 1 time. Ran perfect with the original Bravo 1. A few weeks ago swapped a Bravo 3 outdrive. Went out and had a similar overheating...

    Installing Bravo3 Sterndrive

Kinda had the same issue last week. I used almost the same set up. I was able to hook the drive very close to the engine hoist. I extended the boom so it was able to fit under the swim platform. This made the drive slide in very easy. Try lowering the front of your boat to raise the rear to...

2003 5.0 MPI stubborn overheat issue

Could be pieces of impeller in the system but the problem I've had in the past (20+ years with a B3) is that the sea water pump housing becomes scored and is not effective at keeping the engine cool even after installing a new impeller. I'm actually dealing with that now on a new (new to me)...
