What are these wires and how does my spedo work?

So where sh Would the wires actually go? My helmet has a sped but it doesn't work so maybe it never did? I don't care about that too much cause my FF has GPS but the trim gauge would be nice so I don't always have to go peek where it's at

What are these wires and how does my spedo work?

Pulled my stern drive to check bellows etc. These wires are lose on both sides. Seem like some type of ground wires? Can't see any natural spot they would attach. Also I don't seem to have any type of tube or anything for a spedo it's an older model and 85 boat, how would my speedo work? Cause...

Old Mercruiser 120 3000rpms WOT rated for 3900-4300

Ok im back. After a long winter boat season in upstate NY is here. So I'm going to attempt to check the timing and all that but thinking about possible fuel issues, should I add octane booster and or use higher octane fuel in my next fill? I've seen conflicting opinions on this some say it helps...

85 Cobia sportster Mercruiser 120 steering issue

Last summer steering was working fine. At some point it started feeling kinda jittery turning. Now it feels a lot harder to turn under power and it seems to have some slack in it kinda a light vibration. I don't know hardly anything about boat steering systems so I'd like to know where to start...

Old Mercruiser 120 3000rpms WOT rated for 3900-4300

I took the boat out the other day and it made me think of something else. Btw I'm supposed to get a new prop tomm I was going to change that out and then check the timing when I go test that so I will report back. But also sometimes when I throttle up it will not quite want to go and when I back...

Old Mercruiser 120 3000rpms WOT rated for 3900-4300

As far as drive and prop, it's the original drive as far as I know. Prop is currently a 14x19. It's pretty dinged up so I planned to get a new one. Perhaps I'll try a 17

Old Mercruiser 120 3000rpms WOT rated for 3900-4300

Ok so I finally got around to it. Compression looks good. Points have been converted to electronic tho so now I'm stuck there. I watched a bunch of videos and looked at my neighbors old hot rod to learn all about points and mine doesn't even have them. Neighbor also let me borrow his timing...

Old Mercruiser 120 3000rpms WOT rated for 3900-4300

I recently bought a 85 cobia 17ft open bow with a 153cid 120 in it. Starts, idles, runs and drives great. Max rpms at wot is 3000 tho which is a bit low. Previous owner had recently replaced rotor, wires and plugs so i don't suspect it's that. Was struggling to get even to 3k and I put in fresh...
