    I ran the engine to operating temp before attempting to remove the filter. I have removed many filters in the past and have not encountered one this stuck on. Would be nice if it was that simple. Ken

    I read that is an option. Your the first person to suggest this. Is this a thing? This is not my boat and I don't want to damage anything. Does that nipple that the filter threads onto back out of there?

    Thanks for you response. I was attempting that, but the holes are on angle or bevel, and won't accept the pins, not flat like the OE filter. Ken

    Havent tried that one yet. Not sure what to grab. The outer shell, which there isn't very much left, will just rip. The rest of it is firmly attached to the block. I'll see if I can get ahold of something. Thx, Ken

    Mercruiser #18 Service Manual. I usually use Dielectric grease as well. When I removed this wire from the coil, it was glued in there pretty good. I've never seen that before. figure that was still factory installation. Thanks, Ken

    alpha 1 gen 2 Speedo not wworking

    Thanks Chris. Hit the nail right on the head. There is a bit of water sitting in there and I'm a little concerned it may freeze. I put the drive on so I could run it for oil change, so it has to stay out side now. Had the drive blasted last year, so I'm wondering if that may have hardened in there.

    Did that, both ends. Plugged. Fished a wire from top and bottom to no avail.
