I'm in the process of replacing the transom in my Sylvan with MR drive 140hp. While test fitting my Gimbal Housing and Transom Plate I noticed that my transom plate and front motor mount pad are not quite parallel. I was wondering how critical this is? I drilled 1/2" holes through the...

I've got a question for the motor pro's I'm replacing my transom so I have my 1980 3.0 140 on a stand. I took the oil pan off to remove some rust and paint it. Should I replace the rear main seal at this time? Or leave well enough alone. According to a tag on the motor it was rebuilt in 1993...

Merc 150 4 stroke pressure test

I was changing the lower end oil for a friend and there was a bit of water in the oil. It's a 2012 Mercury 150XL 4S 4 stroke Model 1150F23HD. Before I pressure test it I want to make sure that a) it's ok to pressure test this drive and b) if it's ok, how many psi to use. Also, is there a...

Broken Oil Pump Support 3 liter

Hi there. Just removed the oil pan on my mercruiser 3 liter and noticed the Oil Pump Support is broken. Is there a common reason it would break or is it just a fluke? The pipe is tight. Is that bracket even needed? I noticed that part is NLA. Is there a chevy equivalent for that part? thanks

Need Help adjusting idle Mercruiser 140

Hi there. The idle is to high on my 1980 Mercruiser 140 serial 5668920. It varies between 800 and 1000. I've adjusted what I think is the idle adjust screw. If I back it off AND push on it a bit the idle will drop. Next time I come back to idle though it will still be too high unless I push on...

    Honda BF75 -1981 leaky carb

Hi there. I'm trying to diagnose a no start/poor start problem with my 1981 Honda BF75. When I pump the bulb I get fuel leaking out of the port circled in red. Is that normal? I did get it running for about 10 seconds. I did tear down the carb to clean it. But may not have done it properly. thanks

Mercury fifty classic 2 stroke losing power also need help with set up carburetor

Hi speedy and welcome. You should start a thread of your own for best results. Try pumping the bulb when it starts to stall. If that helps you need to rebuild the fuel pump.

    Power Trim Wiring Issues

Have a bit of a wiring problem with my Power Trim It's been "modified" quite a bit. It currently has a single solenoid system with BOTH a dash trim/trailer switch as well as a trim switch in the throttle. The trim limit has been bypassed somewhere. Bell Housing Bumper MC-1 drive

Hi there. Getting ready to put my drive back together and noticed that I'm missing the Bell Housing Bumper merc part # 63679. It's NLA. It attaches to the lower part of the bell housing and acts as a bumper stop I think between the bell housing and gimbal ring. I suspect there's a lot of...

18 ft. 4 cyl. Mercruiser I/O Shift Cable Routing

If this would be better off in the Mercruiser forum, please move it mods. I forgot to take pictures of the path my lower shift cable takes. I know it goes through the transom plate towards the port side and then back but don't know the exact route. Does anyone have pictures of theirs? Or...

Possible problem with 140 3.0l Exhaust Riser

I have a question regarding the Exhaust Riser from my 1980 140 3.0l. It's raw water cooled. I took it off to check the water shutter and decided to compare it to one I had lying around. In the picture my Riser is the lower one and it doesn't have the round insert thing in it like the upper one...

MCM 140/#1 Drive Yoke Seal Replacement

Just want to verify that the only special tool that I need to replace the Yoke seal in my 1982 140 #1 drive is the Retainer Bearing Spanner Wrench. I was going to order one if it's the kind of job I can do myself. I have the manual and it seems straightforward but I could be missing something...
