    cupped prop question

I have an aluminum Merc. 4 blade 14x14 that gives me 5800 rpm @ WOT. I want 6000. There is no 4-14x13 that fits my motor (4 3/4 gearcase), so I'm entertaining having a prop re-shaped. Dans Props say he can take a 4-15x13 and make it a 14x13......but it's a cupped prop. that's gonna give the same...

    changing pitch

I'd like to have my Merc. aluminum 4 blade 14x14 prop changed to 13" pitch....there's not a 4-14x13 out there that fits my CT 4 3/4" gearcase. (or show me). Can a shop do that?

2021 Merc. 115hp CT, sputtered again running about 4000 rpm?

well....after yesterday, I'm sympathizing with you and looking for answers again myself. This is a 2021 Merc. 115hp CT, purchased new. I thought I had solved my issue. Yesterday, it sputtered again running about 4000 rpm. Not a good feeling single engine on the Bay at 7 pm 45 minutes from my...

why I still prefer gauges in my cars

I noticed a few weeks back in my '08 silverado that the temp gauge was reading slightly below the normal setting since new. Suspected the thermostat, but put it off as maybe an age thing....wrong guess. This coming Friday is the yearly trek to Raystown Lake (about a 2 hour haul). So I run down...

    1996 Merc. 40hp 2 stroke

trying to help a GF's son. tilt/trim motor runs, does exert pressure when trimming down...will not trim up even when manually trying to help it go up. Worked last year. I tried the bleeding ritual, as much as my back could tolerate. Also, trimming down the motor sounds normal. When trimming up...

    early spring maintenance

Finished up my "normal" spring/almost 300 hr engine and pontoon duties yesterday. On paper, it would appear to take only a few hours but was actually 2 full days spaced a week apart) i take my time, plus nothing rarely goes smooth). Made re-enforcing patches for boat cover support poles...

    well, 2021 Merc....opinions.

Disturbing issue showing up on my 2021 Merc. 115 hp, CT. Purchased new, from dealer, delivered/installed July 2021. I have about 250+ hours on it. Oil/lower unit oil changed at end of every season. Plugs pulled, checked, engine fogged also. Fuel filter changed 1.5 years ago. Both batteries good...

    is it normal for:

the amp draw to be significant enough to draw down the voltage as seen on my volt meter when using the trim on my motor? The voltage drop is about 2+ volts. This is on a 2021 merc. 110 hp while underway. It did the same thing on the original 60 hp merc. The wiring is as factory from '06. If not...

    under skinning

comments. Thinking about under-skinning my pontoon. Standard practise material is .065 marine grade (whats the difference) aluminum sheets. I've stumbled across alumicore panels. Available in 3mm, 5mm, 10 mm. It sure appears that a 3mm alumicore sheet would be superior to a .065 sheet. Easier...

    opinions....

The outdrive is a bravo 3, on an '06 sea ray. supposedly 300 hrs. Not many pics, I know but couldn't see any other areas to question. engine (5.0) compartment is very clean, well maintained....there are no grease, rust or oil stains. So , see anything ? good/bad.

    karavan sure lube axles, nice.

Sure lube axles on my dual karavan trailer really make maintenance easier. I trailered my pontoon from the chesapeake bay slip I'm in to Lake Raystown in Pa. So multiple dunkings. Got the grease gun out at home before heading back to the slip and was able to force the water out of each spindle...

well....dreaded boat damage victim...need expertise answers

The marina crushed the middle of the last section of my pontoons. They were blocking it up in prepping for painting. I thought they knew what they were doing. I'm so mad I'm actually numbingly calm. Backstory, just for perspective. New 2021 115 hp motor. All upholstery custom replaced and...

    opinions...snake oil ?or legit.?

Anyone heard of this? Just saw it now. So the thought hits me that instead of getting ny 'toons painted for this up coming season, ($$)...why not try this instead. Since I'd be operating in the upper chesapeake, it's brackish but minimal,

    curious

I put these oval aluminum anodes on the toons this early spring . The mercury outboard has factory installed aluminum anodes also. I've owned the boat for almost 7 years. It has always been operated in fresh water, river and lakes. I've never had any marine growth until now and I didn't think...
