suzuki prop vs turning point 4 blade prop; looking for advise

I finallyyyy got a 17p hustler 4 blade on there and.. I dunno. Up until about 22kts it gets the same, or maybe slightly lower fuel economy. I only took it out about 8 miles on a small local lake, so I'll have to go on a longer trip in the ocean to really determine that, but based on the fuel...

suzuki prop vs turning point 4 blade prop; looking for advise

Finally got the prop in, installed on the boat and .... NOPE! Compared to the suzuki 15p prop, I lost 5kts, bang the rev limiter immediately at about 3/4 throttle, and went from ~6.7mpg to ~5mpg. The boat rides much flatter in the water trimmed down, turns better, and since it has more grip it...

suzuki prop vs turning point 4 blade prop; looking for advise

The place I ordered from STILL HAS NOT shipped, so I've been rethinking. I can hit redline pretty easy and TP doesn't offer (really don't think) a 3-blade for this engine. Mercury black max makes a decent aluminum 3-blade that fits with the right hub kit, that may be better. I may have to drop...

suzuki prop vs turning point 4 blade prop; looking for advise

it depends which one, according to their link here: https://turningpointpropellers.com/_CONTENT/hustler-aluminum-boat-propellers.php This shows that it's dual geometry for the 4.75" gear case, and just the standard swept cleaver for the 4.25" gear case... even though they bear the same name...

suzuki prop vs turning point 4 blade prop; looking for advise

Yes, but it's only listed (as far as i can tell) for the df115A and up; for the larger size gear case. Maybe i'm missing something

suzuki prop vs turning point 4 blade prop; looking for advise

Maybe I'm misreading their website, but I got the impression the 4-blade prop for a suzuki 90 was a standard 4-blad; in other words not the duel geometry style. I'll be pleasantly surprised if it is, but we'll see. It's on backorder which is probably good, gives me time to get some performance...

    Bearing buddy issues

I have never understood what problem bearing buddies are trying to solve. They are another point for water ingress and don't seem to do anything else useful. I see more bearing failures from these stupid things because the excess grease pushes out the seals, water gets in the bearings, and then...

Tools that younger people would not recognize.

that's neat! before my house got destroyed, i had a whole section of my lab dedicated to vacuum tubes. Sadly now it's all in a box waiting for me to find a new space. My current lab just has enough room for modern scopes and stuff.

on my mercedes you have to adjust the parking brake THROUGH THE LUG STUD HOLE. Of course the hole is too small to fit a brake spoon, so i have a skinny flat blade screw driver bent just for this purpose.

suzuki prop vs turning point 4 blade prop; looking for advise

Makes sense, the suzuki prop has no cup and no rake; it's pretty basic. When I changed from such a prop to the same pitch hustler on a different boat I gained a few kts, improved fuel economy, improved hole shot, and gives significantly better grip in the water. I couldn't believe what a...

Tools that younger people would not recognize.

I always have an HP11C and HP16C on my desk, nobody ever knows how to use them. I took the interns out to lunch earlier this year and they had no idea how to operate the crank windows in my car, had no clue what the manual transmission was, then stated that "wow this car is so much older than...

suzuki prop vs turning point 4 blade prop; looking for advise

I am trying to setup the correct prop on my home build aluminum boat, since this is the first one of this design to be constructed, I started with a guess at a 15 pitch from suzuki. Now that I'm through enough break to throttle up, in I'm hitting redline and don't have quite grip on the water...

    Non-skid for aluminum floors

Wow, sorry, I had to spend some time in a manufacturing facility at work and then took the week off to finish this silly boat; I got distracted from the internet for a while. anti-slip tape: my fear with this stuff (and let me know if it is unfounded) is that it will be slippery BETWEEN the...

Need trailer roller arm mount thing

to be fair, i didn't go out there with a magnet and actually check, it just LOOKS like aluminum. Seeing as i build things out of the stuff I assumed; I could be wrong, i'll have to go check it.

Need trailer roller arm mount thing

It's actually aluminum and, due to the fact that I took the picture straight down and you can't see it, they have a slight upward curve. I certainly could go buy some 3/4" x 1/2" (or whatever) aluminum bar and make one, but it's one of those things where I can probably buy the arm with a roller...

Need trailer roller arm mount thing

I don't know the manufacture of the trailer, it just says REGAL on it; clearly OEM supplied for that manufacture. I don't know the model or actual manufacture since the data plate is gone. It seems to me like this should be a fairly generic part

Need trailer roller arm mount thing

I need a trailer roller arm mount thing, i clearly have no idea what this part is called and thus I'm having no luck finding one. Maybe the picture helps someone point me in the right direction! If it matters, this is the trailer. I paid $600 for it, so I'm ok with replacing bearings...

Need aluminum gas tank fitting recommendations

Ahh, makes perfect sense, thank you! I was thinking about having a second pickup for a trolling motor as well; I know you can play games with check valves and stuff, but why not just have a dedicated pickup while it's being built. The tank is segmented into 4 baffled compartments with limber...
