    What they are designed to do and what you can or might get away with is not always the same. I have saw many motors run with bad cylinders, but that doesn' t mean they run correctly !!

    Looks like your on the right path, you might do a spark jump test to see how good the spark is. Buy a good quality rebuild kit for the carbs and do a complete rebuild on them. When you do get it running, a good seafoam treatment will clean out the cylinders. Keep us posted......

    I have never found the little 2-3 hp motors to have anywhere near 100 # of compression. Up in the 10-15 hp range yes and up as the hp gets higher and the cylinders get bigger..

    Running on muffs will not confirm the pump is pumping, as the pressure from the muffs will make water come out the telltale. Running in a barrel or on the lake will let you know for sure....however, being a new to you motor, a new water pump should have been done right away !!

    These little motors don't gave much compression, I have the 2.2 hp Merc single and it pulls very easy. Wouldn't want a hard to pull start motor on the back of a canoe !!

    Water keeps filling boat cover, please help!

    Your cover is similiar to mine. My cover is 24x40 with a second story for junk !! Never had to replace it, never leaks, and it works on multiple toys at the same time !! However, I have to say that my second best cover is the semi truck tarp, that has been awesome.
