I have a 1968 Evinrude 40 hp model 40873a. The previous owner said to use 5w-30 in the gearcase. He said the regular gear oil is too thick.
Is that good advice?
I have a 1968 40hp evinrude. Model # 40873. Should I keep the Choke on Auto went starting and running? It is a butterfly choke.
I do have a problem once the engine is warmed up, it runs for 2 to 3 minutes at full throttle then dies. It will instantly restart and you can go another few...
