Been a while since we've had an oil thread

Has anyone considered the fact that an occasional engine failure might be caused by a bad engine and not necessarily by the oil ? When companies are making thousands of motors every year, you bound to get some bad ones. Been a boat owner for well over 60 years and always used quality brand name...

Looking at a 1990 Sea Ray 24’ Laguna Center Console, how to inspect a hull/things to look out for?

Are you prepared to invest 5K and months of work with nasty fiberglass material that require much safety gear to work with it ? And when finished it won't be worth a quarter of what you put into it. ????

Looking at a 1990 Sea Ray 24’ Laguna Center Console, how to inspect a hull/things to look out for?

Be assured the time and money needed to rebuild will never be recouped. The boats actual value will never be returned after many months of nasty fiberglass work. If you don't have fiberglass experience, I would run away...fast !

    Boat covers like Seal Skin

In snow country, your far better off to create a framework with some type of cover to support the snow weight then you can use any type of cover. Just a cover alone in heavy snow will shorten its life considerably ! Many suggestions have been made under this post for solutions. Using a cover...

    Old johnson V4

Uncle had one when I was a kid (76 now) and boy was it a gas hog. My guess would be no one wants a motor that old and a fuel hog unless they are looking for something historical to match a boat or something. Might be a fun project if you into that type if thing. Value in my opinion is next to...

Help - Boat Accident and Insurance

Same thing with a car, once a total loss it will require a salvage title. Some companies will not insure salvage title vehicles. There are some that do so you will need a different insurance company that will accept the salvage title.

    safety chain question

When pushing tow capacities to their max, strange things can and do happen. I have always taken 20-25% off those limits and have never had a problem. Been towing for over 60 years and always keep things on the safer side. Had to push a few limits when towing for the company I worked for...

Are pontoons easy to repair by welding?

Aluminum us very tricky to weld and because there are many different types of aluminum that adds more dufficulty because you need to know what type of aluminum your welding. Stellantis Rant

Bells and whistles are great when they work, but when they don't....they are expensive to fix. My local Ram dealer says the electric gizmos are the most costly repairs they have on vehicles...as does GM..

    Fuel leakage problem.

While it might work properly, does the float...float...they often become saturated with fuel or get a pin hole in the case of brass floats so they no longer float properly. The older compressed cork floats were notorious for becoming saturated.
