Manifolds (Trying to figure out what I am looking at)

I could mill a 3" but that seems like just introducing another potential leak on the wet joint... I'm thinking maybe next go around I convert to a dry joint setup which will give me more customization. The other issue then becomes getting the elbow tube to meet the y-pipe. I'd have to find some...

Manifolds (Trying to figure out what I am looking at)

Yeah. So no shot 6 inches would clear the transom without cutting. Or modifying the do house or any other slew of things for that matter. I'm going to dig around and see if anyone offers a 4 inch. That's about all she can take.

    I have a leak.

It seems to leak in the water only.

    I have a leak.

I can reach down there with the phone, problem is I can't get it where I need to. The phone itself is too big.

    My 84 4winns horizon 195 project.

Oh, and also, I'm going to replace the platform on the boat with a teak one. To gut the current platform and recore it doesn't seem to pay. The gelcoat is worn and the time it would take could be better spent building a teak one, which would look very nice on this style boat.

    My 84 4winns horizon 195 project.

Aside from the couple of teething leaks, I've put about 30 hours on her since the splash. Friday, I ran out Barnegat inlet and then proceeded to run the 25 miles north offshore back into Manasquan inlet. My punch list for now is: Finish cabin upholstery Fix that damn drip update stereo Reseal...

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

If the intake and PCV system is set up correctly, there should be minimal build up in the intake/valves on a DI engine. When I pulled my intake to replace my plugs at 100k (yes you read that correctly, stupid design) there was nothing much to note in there. Looked the same or better as any port...

Manifolds (Trying to figure out what I am looking at)

I was thinking about that. Problem is I have wet joint so my options are 3" or 6" unless I missed something. Problem with that is at 6" I'm pretty sure I won't clear the rear part of the deck. I'll try and measure it tomorrow and get a better idea.

Manifolds (Trying to figure out what I am looking at)

So today since it was calm, I threw 2 people in the back of the boat and measured the static height per mercruiser. I get ~11.5 inches. If we move to normal seating positions it climbs to ~13 inches. So it looks like I will throw in a set of 3 inch risers to play it safe. After measuring I don't...

    I have a leak.

The problem is I did that. At the time it didn't leak so I'm at a loss what's going on right now.

    I have a leak.

So the two others are now fixed..... But it seems I have developed a new leak now. I can't see it but have a drip on the transom plate. I am thinking y-pipe? Going to try and get my inspection camera back there to see what's what.... I really hope I don't have to pull the engine again. Not that...

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

If I recall correctly, yamaha and merc had dual prop outboards years ago. Those were designed to run near surfacing conditions. That Suzuki is interesting looking though and doesn't seem to be the same concept... I'd be posting in the Suzuki section to see if anyone has one and how it runs. I'd...

I soak mine in my ultrasonic tank. Don't even have to think about it that way.

How do you all like your remote oil filter setups?

I know I already posted it, but here are the photos for the remote filter setup. When changing the filter last week I poked a hole in the filter and loosened it until the gasket just touched the base plate. Completly drained and no mess at all. Much better than the non remote mount. The bypass...

    I have a leak.

So I test ran it and no leaks thus far. Going to launch it later and will report back. The shift cable wasn't leaking on the trailer. I did however pull the water pump and re-seal it with a new pump to block gasket. Seems like the paper gasket Mercruiser supplied with the new pump is crap. It...

    I have a leak.

Yeah. Dad when to school for it when they first came out and it was an issue they brought up. But it was such a short window he serviced them I couldn't tell you. The one I did was a pain is all I can say. I'd work on them. He'd work on them but most younger guys have no desire lol.

    I have a leak.

I've worked on those helping dad over the years too. The only thing I hated was the god damn rubber ring you had to force the u-joint carrier through to get it on. Otherwise not a bad design... especially coming from the same company that thought the stringer was a good idea. I still have the...

    I have a leak.

So I pulled the cable core blew it out with air and wiped it down with a clean rag. Put a small shot of 6-56 in there and blew that out and reassembled it. Cable is a brand new merc installed about a month ago. If I have any shifting issues I will be replacing it. Next I pulled the old upper...
