One of the grossest things ever was the earpiece on a pay phone.....using 2 fingers and holding it away from your ear and trying to talk...lol

    Force outboard maintenance

How many gallons and how old is it? If in doubt you could use a little bit of it at a time when refueling, to get rid of it. But if you know it is stale I wouldn't use it at all....

    Force outboard maintenance

Have heard the same, is probably true......these motors are the old crossflow design and have pistons with big ridges on them. That makes them more susceptible to detonation to begin with, and bad/stale fuel can make it even worse. But if you stay on top of your fuel quality you should be ok...

    Force outboard maintenance

I use 89 octane but either will be fine. Ethanol free (E0) is great if you can find it, is more expensive. E10 is readily available and if you use a good fuel stabilizer will be fine. I use Sta-Bil 360 Marine with every fill up....that way it is always treated in case it sits for a...

1984 force 125 Leaking tilt and trim?

I believe part #8 (2 of them) in that diagram are the plugs I was talking about. Part # 19-F1729

1984 force 125 Leaking tilt and trim?

I don't think it will hurt anything.....maybe Nordin or jerry will chime in with better info on this water issue. Mine is always dry down there so I am not 100% sure. I was assuming the water was leaking from higher up, like from the exhaust boot or something....not rising up from the leg...if...

    Force outboard maintenance

If it's running good is probably ok......they do get stiff and can get holes/tears in the diaphragm......if in doubt, replace it.

1984 force 125 Leaking tilt and trim?

Think I understand what you're talkin about now......there are some little plastic plugs down there in the bottom you can see looking down with the cover off.....if they are missing some water could get in there with the engine down in the water....

1984 force 125 Leaking tilt and trim?

With motor tilted up some water is trapped in the cooling system....when you lower it the water drains out......put a new boot on it and see if that solves the exhaust and water leak.

    Force outboard maintenance

I would start by getting a factory service manual.....check on ebay. Read the stickies at the top of this forum, lots of good info there. Use the search function of this forum. Since you just got the motor would be a good idea to replace the impeller......then replace every few years as...

    Why does everybody hate Force?

A bad reputation is almost impossible to overcome.....but you can get a Force pretty cheap for that reason. If you can do your own work, maintain it, and not run the hell out of it, it will last and run for a long time. Go over to the Evinrude and Mercury forums.....they have the same problems...

1984 force 125 Leaking tilt and trim?

Worst case scenario would be a leak where the power head mounts onto the leg......check that area too for water coming out......would require removing the PH to fix.....

1984 force 125 Leaking tilt and trim?

Part #61 is a shock mount....water could drain out there but it is above the water line so water shouldn't come in there......there shouldn't be any water in the engine area. You can also check around the exhaust cover...feel around the bottom edge for leaks when running....and the thermostat...

1984 force 125 Leaking tilt and trim?

Boot Kit part# 895012A01(includes spring). Held on with a clamp at the idle relief port.....the other end just pushes into the leg cover and held there by the force of the spring.....

1984 force 125 Leaking tilt and trim?

If your motor runs different when you put the cowling on, it's probably an exhaust leak causing it to starve for O2.....Check part#5 in this diagram for a hole or tear.....is the idle exhaust boot. Both water and exhaust run through that boot and could cause the exhaust leak and water in...

    Stator position.

I was thinking you already had a tach installed.....and changing out the stator with one that had more poles would affect it. If you ordered the right one then you should be ok....

    Stator position.

Yes, it could cause it to read wrong.....Keep that in mind when you get the engine running, see if it acts the same or not.

    Stator position.

If you have a tachometer it will read differently if the new stator has more poles than the one it replaced......FYI.

    Chrysler 75hp, need direction.

While you're in there, wouldn't hurt to check the recirculation system.....Is a dog bone shaped cover to the right of the fuel pump.....it has 3 reeds (one for each cylinder) with little screens that can get plugged up. It's job is to take excess/unburned fuel and route it up to the intake...

    Chrysler 75hp, need direction.

You say it was the first trip in a long time.....how old is the gas? I see you have a portable tank in your pic. Would be easy to clean that out if it had water or stale fuel in it...... Wouldn't hurt to do compression and spark tests first.....make sure there are no problems here before doing...
