    Can the gearcase housing be repaired by welding?

    I'm planning to repair my lower unit (Evinrude OceanPro, 175 hp, 1998, 60 degree). It has the front area (torpedo) damaged, it has a dent with a hole about 1/4" dia. Can it be repaired by welding, heliarc or something?
