I have a 1984 Johnson VRO (with VRO disconected, thanks to previous owner). After about 30 minutes of WOT, 2 cyl conk out, bringing RPMs down to about 2500 - 2800. Runs this way for 30 - 45 minutes, then all four cyls kick in back up to 4500 rpms. then will cycle from 2 to 4 cyl off and on...
