impeller last changed in 1996, how do I change this

1976 i6 165 mercruiser. I last used the boat 2 years ago and have finally fixed the hydraulics. Do I need to remove the drive to replace the impeller? I am familiar with engines and the like, but have never replaced the impeller.

Clear tube from carb to fuel pump-what is this line?how to replace?

165 i6 from 1976. I noticed the clear tube from the carb to the fule pump is off and has shrunk to the point it no longer reaches the carb. I am guessing this is a unburned gas/vapor return to the pump. Where can I get this tubing? It is common to get a t Napa cut to length type. I am...

hydraulic line connection to trim pump-leaking past threads

I am very cautious about overtightening the hydraulic line into the trim pump and thought I had it tight, but I am getting fluid leaking past the threads on the connection in the dogbone (the high pressure line). I am not sure if it was cross threaded or not, and I know this has to be tight for...

    Hydraulic trim pump issues-

I6 from 1975. FInally got the pump off and tagged/docmented wires. Should this have come off by two bolts that hold the bracket on or the four bolts that hold the pump onto the bracket? When i tried the two screws for the bracket they spun the whole bolt. Are these the ones you need to...

Is there daily or temp boat insurance avail?

I take my boat out 3-4 times a year. Pardon the expression but it is a POS but still runs great and I have a blast with it. I only carry comprehensive and only need to cover the boat when it is trailered or in the water. Other than that I dont care what happens to it.

    hydraulic Line replacement question

For starters, I broke one of my rules on repairs last year. On a 32 year old boat I replaced only one of the lines for the drive hydraulics when it broke, knowing the other was just as old. Well on the last day of boating last year it also split. Is there a vendor on here that sells the...

NFL players boating 35 miles offshore with a 21Ft Boat?

Is it just me, or is it just not that smart to be 35 miles offshore with such a small boat. I have a 20 ft boat and would not even think of that. I would like to see how the boat was equipped. It sounds like the boat flipped unexpectedly, hence no radio call.

End of year Hydraulic Pump Failure, need help to repair

1976 Mercruiser, 165 I/O I6 My POS boat made it through another year of hasslefree boating, but during the final time out the hydraulics made that well known increasing higher pitched tone as the absence of fluid was apparent. There is a nice collection of oil in the hull that will be removed...

    Engine Recommnedations

All of the repowering posts and transom repair stories have convinced me to replace instead of repair. Reason: Even when I am done with the repair I will still end up with a weathered old trihull with a dated engine and not worth much more. So we are starting to look for boats, but want...
