    Fiberglass thickness on a Motor Mount Stringer for a OMC 400

    Can someone tell me how thick the fiberglass should be on a motor mount stringer for a OMC 400. Looks like what was on there was 1/4" thick. But don't know if that's too thick. I'm using 1708 biaxial with poly resin.

    layup of fiberglass 1708 biaxial mat

    I'm planning to start the installation of the fiberglass in my runabout, I am using 1708 biaxial mat with polyester resin. I was wandering since the biaxial has the mat stitched to the back on the cloth already do I need to put down a layer of 1 1/2 oz mat first or can I just use the 1708 biaxial.
