I have a 30 hp tohatsu ( m30a3 ) I disassembled the lower unit to replace all seals and noticed the drive shaft has excess play ( moves up and down 1/4 ".) The pinion gear has been eating into the inside of the housing, as the shaft would ride up when in gear. Someone has replaced parts in this...
