    gas /oil ratio

    have 1987 mercury 2 cycle 75 hp motor. I mix the oil/gas mixture at 50-1 ratio. seems the engine is quite old, it seems a bit smokey, but runs good. What is the least amount of oil that is ok to mix with the gas and still have the engine lubricated safely? THANKS

    1986 Merc. outboard-locked in forward shift position

    My 1986 Merc. outboard 75 hp. seems to be locked in forward all the time. I can't get it to go into neutral or reverse. the control cables seem to be functioning correctly. seems the problem could be in the gear case. Could use some help to correct the problem. thanks, billyboy210
