Which tach will work on my 1976 75hp

I have a 1976 75hp Johnson Stinger 3 cylinder. I have the gray pulse wire in the control box. I'm assuming a 3 wire tach, with +, - and pulse leads is what I need. When I research tachs on this website and other's, they never show pictures of the backs and how they are wired. I hooked up an...

    The Wizard rides again

My 1952 WG-7 (Merc KG-7) is alive once again. It was completely tore down when I got it, and now with new rings, seals, gaskets, coils, points, condensors, plugs and plug wires, and impeller, it has breathed once more. Now to finish the paint and apply new decals and she will be ready for...

Coil leads on a Phelon Magneto KG-7

Anyone know which leads are which on this? I'm guessing the insulated wire goes to the points and the noninsulated is the ground? Maybe it's the other way around?

Felt cam wiper for Phelon Magneto KG-7

Anyone know of a good substitute for the felt cam wiper that goes in the Phelon Magneto? I've got a Wizard WG-7 (Merc KG-7). I've seen it listed as part number M-30-571, and as 398-723. Mine were missing in the motor I got,so I don't know what to size by. Thanks, Dean

Help identify tilt and trim motor

I have a 1976 Johnson 75 hp stinger, model 75elr76d. I don't believe that this motor came with tilt and trim, and the motor on it now is ruined. The hydraulic unit seems to work good, holds pressure, etc., so I only want to replace the electric motor. The motor base is 2 7/8" outside...

Sweet Victory 75hp Johnson Stinger flies again

So, I've been fooling around with this motor for a couple of weeks. 1976 Johnson Stinger 75 hp longshaft. The motor would start out okay, then after a minute or so, it would bog down. I checked compression, rebuilt the carbs, rebuilt the fuel pump, adjusted all the linkages, put a new water...

Fuel line to pump 1976 Johnson 75 hp

When I pulled my fuel pump out, the fuel line from the tank (#8 in the attached picture) was attached to the removable cap (#4 in the attached picture). HOWEVER, my service manual says that this line goes to the carb. Is the service manual wrong?

Carb rebuild question 1976 Johnson 75hp

The instructions that came with my carb kit said to snug up the low speed orifice (jet) then back it out one full turn. It says nothing about setting the high speed orifice (jet). My service manual doesn't say anything about this. Any ideas? Also, when you replace the plugs, do you seal them...

First time out with this motor. (75ELR76D 1976 75 hp I-3 Stinger) It cranks and idles fine. First minute or so on the water it accelerated nicely and ran out like a champ, but after I throttled back and then up again, it started stalling. It cranks right back up, but will get sluggish and...
