    what is this behind my transom?

    Restoring an old panga and just removed the rotted out transom to find this What is it and should i grind it out or chisel it out?? It is very crystal like and spider cracked. At the top of the stern it is very thin and towards the hull its roughly 3/4" thick and crystal like. Thoughts concerns??

    Need some paint stripping/bottom coat advice

    Here is the bottom of my boat shown in the pic below. The paint is spider cracking really bad. Now my question is this. Can i just get by with roughing it up and throwing a really thick 2 part paint over it, or should i grind the entire bottom of the boat smooth?
