1979 100hp chrysler (1007h9a) My boat was running great yesterday, then out of the blue, BANG. We hear a load bang and the motor locked up. I cant turn the flywheel. I took the cowling off, I checked the engine temp but it was not hot. I think I found where the bang came from (see pic). I...

100 hp 1979 chrysler I static timed my outboard. I have set my timing to 30 degrees BTDC as suggested on this forum (book says 32 degrees BTDC). The attached diagram shows the length of the control rod should be between 3/8" and 1/2". Mine is currently at 5/16". Is this something I need to...

    carb idle screw

100hp 1979 chrysler (1007h9a) So, I was bored and felt like cleaning out my carbs. I removed the carb idle screws (2 carbs) and noticed that the tips are worn a bit. I would like to replace them but they appear to be NLA. Anything I can do? Can I resurface the tips?

    Cowling foam?

I just removed all the black foam stuff from under the cowling. It kept falling down and making my motor dirty, not to mention the particles that have been sucked into the carb over the years. My question is should I be concerned with replacing the foam?

    Tachometer issues

100hp 1979 Chrysler I recently bought a generic universal 12 pole tach. It has negative, positive and a pulse connection. After I hooked them up, when I turn the key to the ON position, the tach redlines. I did not even turn over the engine. I tried to start and no change. I hooked up the...

    In-line fuel filter

1979 100hp Chrysler. I recently added an in-line fuel filter. Now I am having issues with not getting enough fuel. It keeps bogging down and I have to have someone keep pumping the primer bulb. I have the vent open on the tank. I currently have a 5/16" fuel line. I am thinking of up-sizing...

    100 hp 1979 Chrysler lives!!

Just wanted to share some good news. After determining that my CD module was bad, I recently was able to afford to replace it. I took it out to the lake today and after some tinkering with the idle and timing, it ran like a dream. I attempted to hook up my old tachometer but it reads too high...

    Starter Relay OK?

100 hp 1979 chrysler model#1007H9A I have been using this starter relay. The only numbers on it are 0102. (Came with the motor when I bought it.) I do not seem to have any issues with it. Are there any dangers I should be concerned about?

    Tachometer to Rectifier?

I have 100hp 1979 chrysler model #1007H9A It looks like I have to replace the CD unit. The replacement from CDI, part#115-3301 looks to be the correct one. However CDI states, "This unit does not contain an active tachometer circuit. If the original tachometer is still on the boat and connected...

Motor- 1007H9A (1979 100 hp chrysler) Hello, I am having trouble with consistent performance. Last weekend it seemed to run fine but when I got to the honey hole it would not start and needed to get the "tow of shame". I initially thought it may be my preamp or CD unit but thought I should...
