I have a 24ft Harris pontoon with a 1997 yamaha 40hp. I have found a nice low hours 70hp but is several years older. According to the model number, the 70 is a 1985 model. The boat has the 704 top mount control. Does anyone know if this will work with the 85 model motor? From pictures it does...
Have a 24ft pontoon with a 40hp yamaha. Motor runs fine, just want more hp. Found a nice Evinrude 115 with controls, but it is a 25" shaft and the yamaha is a 20" shaft. Can the longer shaft motor work? I have a 98 Harris super sunliner boat.

Looking to upgrade in hp on a 24ft Harris pontoon. Found a nice 115hp motor with controls, but it is a 25" shaft motor. Original motor is a 20". Has anyone made this swap with positive results? If so, what is needed to make it work?

I am looking at a 1998 24ft pontoon with a 40hp yamaha. I have an older (84) deck boat with a good running mariner 90hp. The pontoon is rated for over 100hp. Just wandering what to expect as far as mounting the bigger motor and hook ups.
