    82? johnson9.9 want rev up in neutral

    I just bought a 1982 model johnson 9.9 ob. It want accelerate in neutral, it will just die. But, when after it warms for a minute, in gear it will rev up. The guy told me this was a safety for the engine. Also, any special needs for this engine?
