    Mercury optimax 115 trim

So, seems like a basic question. We just bought a new to us deck boat with this motor. We came from a searay IO and trim was very important for cruising with that engine. Is standard practice to cruise engine trimmed all the way down for slow cruising 5-10 mph?

Have looked for weeks with no luck. Hummingbird 797 screw

So on the mount cod the hummingbird 797c it’s missing the screw that would hold the fish finder onto the dashboard mount and let it be locked and adjusted upward or downward. I thought the marina mentioned Scotty screw but I have no clue which one would work. Here’s the model...

4.3 mercruiser belt off. Stranded at sea

Well we are home. But we did have to get towed. No idea what it is, or what kind of issue I’m facing. Was tubing and ran fine. Went to dinner and came back to boat and noticed once we got on plane the steering felt really tight. I killed the engine and opened the hood to the 96 mercruiser 4.3...

    Boat repaired now NEW issjes

Our lower unit line for oil from the trim bottle of lube needed to be replaced. They had to remove the lower unit now two issues: 1 - trim gauge works but is reading wrong. All the way down on the trim now reads about half way down on the gauge. It’s way off but works as far as functionality...

I have a 96 4.3 Mercruiser. My previous thread I discuss the alarm going off. It was a bad impeller. They also filled the trim unit. Took the boat boat on the water ran great and no alarm. But some oil in water and speedometer wasn’t reading right suddenly. Now in driveway there is a blueish...

175 Searay Bilge Water in Boat/ Bilge

So, I have a new to me 175 Searay 1996. It has the dashes on the helm and one is bilge that lights up. This past weekend we were in good chop and winds and took a few waves up and over. Enough to put about an inch in the boat, nothing crazy. Anyhow, I turned on the bilge and nothing ever spit...

    Hit Sandbar. Now Weird Issues...

So, this one I can't quite figure out. Have a 4.3 liter Mercruiser. Was cruising a new lake and hit a sandbar - feel sick. Anyways, it nicked up the prop and the skeg, but I'll get those repaired. I was able to trim up and get right off the sandbar and cruise with no issues. Here's the odd...

New Boat this weekend, new questions (96 sea ray 175)

So, I got a great running good condition Sea Ray 175. It was a family friend so he sold it for me at a great price of $3500. It runs great and is in great condition. It has the 4.3 Mercruiser in it. So, here's my first question. On the throttle it has trailer button and trim up / down. The...

1995 Johnson 30 hp. New prop? Hard to change? Which one?

So I have a 1995 Johnson 30 hp outboard. It's a great motor, 2 stroke. But definitely has a dinged up prop that is likely original. When I searched on iBoats for a new prop (they're on sale now) it brought up TONS. I just want a good prop that gives me the best overall performance for a good...

30 years Outboards, Getting an Inboard/ Outboard. Now what...

Not spending big bucks, but more of a boat to scoot around in. 1987 Four Winns 160. It has a 3.0 Alphadrive engine in it. Good motor/ boat? It runs great from what I've seen / heard so far. So, does this have its own oil spot or just put it in once a season like a car type thing and fill a gas...

What type of seat to mount here? Is this boat worth $1600?

So I know I can get this boat for $1600. 1987 25 hp Mariner and 1987 Basstracker 16' with good trailer. Question is, I notice in this picture there's no driver seat. I'm AWFUL at repairing boat stuff, but seems like there must be a relatively inexpensive seat or mount or system I could hook onto...

    Were 1998 25 H.P. Mercury's good motors?

Considering a fishing boat with one. A 1998, well taken care of and runs well. Just wondering if it's a reliable motor. Also, how does this motor compare to lets say a 35 horse Evinrude or Johnson that's older? Thanks all! :D

Seller Indicates Oil-Injected Outboard Didn't get New Oil past year

Long story short, I am interested in a 35 or 45 horse (yet to be determined) Mariner from late 1980s. Oil Injected. Seller said that he's only had it one year and winterized it. Hasn't added oil, just gas to the boat. Should I not look at this boat or is it possible that if he didn't use it...

Don't Understand Oil Injected Outboard. Always had ones I had to mix with fuel.

So, I am considering buying a boat with an onboard fuel tank. 45 horsepower Mariner engine that is 'oil injected'. Seller indicates only have to add gas and he believes it's a 4 cylinder. How's this work? Does more oil get added when it gets winterized? Or is it like a car that uses the same oil...
