    Battery, is one ok?

I just purchased a new pontoon. While shopping I learned about the multi battery switch and dual batteries. Unfortunately the boat I purchased only has one battery, although is does have an on off switch. I foresee me spending a lot of time on my boat anchored and floating with the stereo going...

Sun baked - whats the best way to fix?

My new old boat was stored outside for the last 5 years. The place under the trolling motor is beautiful, the rest of the dark trim is kind of chalky and dull. I washed the boat upon getting her home and that made a world of difference on the overall appearance, but the trim is still dull. I...

Mercury 150 EFI what type of oil and how much?

I just bought a 1998 Fish n Ski with a 150 Mercury. I did a compression test before buying it and it tested between 115 and 120 stone cold. I feel good about the engine so I want to keep it perfect. I plan to premix because I don't trust injection systems. Is it necessary to run any special oil...

    Merc 150 1988 compression numbers

I looked at a boat with the above motor, I like the boat OK but want to compression test the motor. One person told me the compression should be between 115 to 125 PSI and all cylinders within 10% of each other. Can anyone verify that please?

    Mercury oil pump and compression

I am looking at a 1999 fish n ski with a 150 Mercury outboard. The owner is running premix because the factory oil pump is shot. He says it is a plastic mechanical pump that wears out, is that true? seems like a terrible design. He bought a $500 electric oil pump that he leaves disconnected, I...

To buy or not to buy?

I recently got exposed to bass fishing, and I loved it. I have been shopping for a boat and wow are they expensive. I have settled in on a 1997 Hydra Sport 20', with a Johnson 200, it is rigged nicely with 2 fish finders (not the fancy gps models unfortunately), 2 year old trolling motor, on...

    Johmson 200 compression

I am looking at buying a boat with a 1997 Johnson 200. The compression is between 90 and 93 on all cyl. Is that ok? Also when we did the compression test the starter kept kicking out, like a bad starter, but with the plugs back in it it does turn over and crank the engine? Any thoughts?
