Mercruiser 5.7 MIE- really rough/dies just past idle

Had my carb rebuilt late last year and it seemed ok but this year my 5.7 stumbles bad just past idle and I have to move the throttle quickly past this spot so the engine doesn't die. It will idle ok at like 700rpm but as soon as I get to about 1200 rpm (when I put it in gear) it runs really...

My 5.7 Mercruiser won't start reliably. Replaced key switch and slave solenoid and still doesn't even turn over- completely dead. Getting power to gauges, etc. I can start by shorting across slave solenoid terminals just fine. Ideas? Thanks!
