    How do you start this thing??

    Ok you Merc guys...here's one for me!<br /><br />The pull start mechanism is incorporated in the cowling of my 1974 Merc 4 hp model 40... With the cowling off...how are you supposed to start this thing?? I can't very well troubleshoot it with the cowling on... Is there some type of pulley...

    1974 Merc 4 hp model 40 won't stay running

    It will only start when in the "fast" throttle position. I don't have a test barrel so am using garden hose to supply water. Once it starts I must throttle back in order to prevent overspeed. Yet once I move throttle off of "fast" position, it no longer fires. When throttled back to "fast"...
