    88 SPL rebuild

    My engine was knocking badly and also would ceased up. I tore it down and am looking at the crank, bearings, pistons, cylinders etc. I can't find anything wrong except a couple lower rings on two piston are stuck due to carbon. I had a mechanic look at it and he can't find anything wrong...

    1988 88hp Johnson knocking now won't turn over

    I was crusing when my 1988 88 hp Johnson outboard started knocking and losing power. I went to an idle and after a while it stopped knocking. I cruised again for about a half an hour and then it knocked again and then finally stopped. It won't turn over now. I even removed the spark plugs...
