    Reading RPM's

I have a 2005 Yamaha F115 that is running ok but I noticed the rpm's appear to be off sometimes. Went to come up on plane and it usually happens around 3500. I had to push it to 4000 or so to get up then it seemed to be reading higher than usual for throttle position. Seemed to sdlowly back...

2005 Yamaha F115 - Does this Make Sense

Had my mechanic take the boat out for a sea trial and checkout a problem I'm having. Recently had the injectors cleaned and it ran smooth and quiet but only got to 4200 rpm. After about 15 minutes it wouldn't get past 3000 rpms and limped back to the marina. He experienced the same symptoms...

    Cutting an access hole

I need to cut an access hole inside my console(190 CC). The deck in there appears to be thin metal, not fiberglass. This is for access to the fuel pick up and main fuel line. Is there an easy/safe way to do this? Access it terrible. Do they make a large hole punch for metal that you slowly...

    Yamaha F115 Fuel Rail fitting

Anyone know the size of the schrader valve at the top of the fuel rail? Trying to check the fuel pressure and the gauge I bought is too big. Metric? And any advice on where to find one? Thanks

    Fuel Pressure Gauge

Anyone know where to easily buy a fuel pressure gauge that will fit the valve on a Yamaha F115? I would rather not wait for shipping, etc. Any big box stores sell them? Thanks

    05 Yamaha F115 - Still losing power

I've had a performance issue going on over a month now. Started a while back when I went WOT. Went to 5400 rpm then fell back and stalled. Started right back up and was able to take it slowly up to over 4K. Kept it low until we made it back. Prior to this the motor ran like a champ.(BTW-new...

F115 - New bulb and fuel line

Replacing my primer bulb and fuel line due to deterioration. I noticed on the Yamaha site they sell it as two pieces. One outside and one inside the motor. There is a damper in between, right where it enters the motor. Does anyone know why that's there? Or if it's needed? I was thinking I...

    Yamaha F115 Fuel Lines

Looking at replacing my fuel lines, primer to seperator and to the engine filter. On the schematic of the motor it shows a hose coming off the filter to a baffle, then another piece, grommet to the bulb. Anyone know what the baffle is for? I read somewhere someone saying they just plum from...

    Seat Lettering

The lettering on my seats are pretty much gone. Now there appears to be glue residue in the shape of the letters. Anyone ever take this off that can recommend something? Thanks

    Yamaha F115 Fuel Lines

So I was out thinking of replacing my fuel lines all the way to the motor. The replacement bulb and line has quick connect fittings on both ends. On the motor, the existing one appears to be one single line from the bulb into the filter. The breakout view of the motor looks like it has a...

    2005 F115 Limited Rpm

Seem like I've read a few of these problems before but here is my story. Orignal issue was a boging at WOT. Took it to a Yamaha certified tech and he cleaned the VST and filter. Did all the pressure checks, etc. All seemed good 4 weeks ago. Had a starter issue that I finally resolved last...

    Aftermarket quality

I'm in the market for a new starter on a Yamaha 115 and have seen everything from $500+ for the OEM version, to $250 for a Taiwan one, to a Arco for $400 to a Caltric for $176. Bought one of the Taiwan ones and returned it when the bendix didn't seem to be responsive, at least when dropping...

    FUel Tank Vent replacement

Just noticed the cap on my thru hull fuel line vent busted off. Is a replacement pretty straight forward? Just a clamped hose and remove the old fitting to replace I hope? Anything to look for? Thanks

Yamaha Repair Manual- where to buy

Just wondering the best place to buy a service manual for my motor. 2005 Yamaha F115. I have downloaded what was labeled a service manual, it appears to be from Yamaha, but it's short on actual test/repair steps. It has detailed drawings and schematics but no real steps. Any recommendations...

    Rust/Corrosion Inhibitor

I had the cover off the motor the other day and generally it looks in great shape. There is one small area of corrosion/rust starting around the top of the fuel injector rail. Appears to be just on the surface for now. Is there a spray or coating out there that will stop it in it's tracks? Thanks

    F115 Starter Motor

Researching some troubleshooting of a starter problem. Does a 2005 F115 have a separate starter coil and starter or is it integrated. If I want to jumper across the coil to test the starter. And is there a way to test the starter relay? Thanks

    F115 Starter Issue

Had the boat with the mechanic today to check the fuel system and an intermittent(new) starting issue. First instance was a clicking sound, no starter response. Cleaned the battery terminal and it started fine. Next trip the starter spun without the engine turning over. After several tries it...

    Reasonable Performance?

I have a 2005 Yamaha F115 4 stroke on a Sea Pro 190 CC and am wondering if these numbers seem good. Prop is a SS Rapture 13.25x17RH. Seems slow out of the hole but I got ~5500 rpm at 32mph today. 3 people(450 lbs) half a tank of fuel, moderate chop. I'm working through some fuel system...

Yamaha 115 4 stroke starting problem

Went to go fishing today and when I went to start the boat the motor made a wheezing sound, like a starter(not a cranking sound). Bulb was primed and firm. Tried a few times, checked connections and primed more. Finally turned over and ran fine all morning. Stopped and restarted at the dock...
