Throttle wide open could not get more than 3000 r.p.m's. Would idle fine and slow speed's seem to run fine. Engine quit and would not restart. If I held in the button on throttle control it would start and run normal even at full throttle But die as soon as i released the button.What is this...
Still dealing with a miss at part throttle. Runs great wide open. Checked ignition with timing light and so on. Had a carb problem while back, Would die at idle ran rough. Ended up replacing carbs. Rebuilt the new carbs and now Doesn't die.
Could the miss at part throttle still be a carb...
This engine has a miss at part throttle. Checked plugs and wires with timing light and all is good. But, I always have some oil in the air box in front of the carbs. Could this be some blow back from a reed valve? Could my miss be because of a reed valve even if I don't get a pop in the carbs...

Recently rebuilt carbs,replaced plugs, Engine idles good, runs great wide open,But seems to have a miss at part throttle. Compression test= three cylinders at 100psi one cylinder at 90. Any ideas?
Johnson 1976 115 4v. Was having some carb problems. Went thru them and had it running yesterday. Seem to run real good. Tried to start today and cranks but will not even start! Check for spark,was good. Seems like one thing after another.What am I doing wrong?:confused:

The Allen screw that secures the lower Driveshaft bearing located by the water pickup holes was loose and leaking gear oil. when i tried to tighten it, it went in so far that more gear oil began to leak.what am I doing wrong? Is there a torque spec or does it float? How do I know the bearing is...
76 Johnson 115. I take it the internal casting behind the prop is taken out of the lower unit with a slide hammer? Attached to the two holes that are tapped in the casting? I just don't see another way. :confused:
Put my boat in the water today and the over heat alarm went off in just a few minutes of running. I think my water pump impeller must have gone out. Could not see anything coming out of the pee holes when I started it after it cooled off. I believe the alarm comes on before any engine damage, Right?
My 1976 Johnson 115 has no Idle adjustment screws in carb's. What is the proper adjustment procedure's? Also throttle plates work together, Must need to be Adjusted to same angle when closed or open?:rolleyes:
