i am installing a mercury tachometer on my 1987 evinrude 90 hp and found the following information posted here on a previos forum with regards to the wiring color codes.
"grey=sensor
black=grd
purple=switched 12vdc
Your controller may have a three pin plug ... a mating harness is available...
