Quick Help - Wiring on New Gas Tank

I had to replace the tank on my older boat. I thought I wired it back up correctly, but... With the key off I'm registering gas in the tank. Key on... no gas in the tank. What did I get backwards? This is on a 1976 3.0 Mercruiser I/O.

Need to patch a hole... Someone point me in the right direction!

I've got a good idea how to do this, but... check twice do it once... I'm having to move my gas vapor vent, leaving me a hole about 3/4 in diameter. Obviously I'd like to fill it now while my gas tank is out! Plan is from inside, taper the hole, tape the exterior hole, fill with PB and some...

Need Quick Thoughts - Merc #1 or R Lower Unit

Just replaced water pump impeller, been following the forum instructions... BUT: Trying to put the lower unit back in and I'm coming up about 3/4 of an inch short. I have the shift shaft in forward position. It seems as though I'm not getting the drive shaft to fit. Thoughts?

    Spark Plug Type?

Anyone have any idea what kind of plugs I need for the following: 1976 Mercruiser 3.0L ??? The service manual calls for either ACDelco AC-MR45-T or Champion RBL-8. Can't seem to find info on either... And since I'm at it... There seems to be some oil around my plug threads. Last years...

    Manifold drain plugs leaking...

Hey All... Just got the boat started after the winter's nap. Everything fine, except: two of the water drain plugs on the exhaust manifold are leaking. And yes they are closed. Do these things go bad? Had the boat winterized, etc. Plugs appear to be a "butterfly-style" screw which screws into...

    1975 Crestliner Trihull w/ 3.0L Mercruiser - New Project

Picked up this boat a couple of weeks ago. Great condition overall for it's age. I checked out the motor to the best of my knowledge and all seems pretty good. I'm planning on doing some fairly extensive mechanical checking on the motor before she hits the water. One thing that I noticed right...

    1975 Crestliner "Muskie" 775 - A New Project

Felt the need for something a bit bigger, so here we go again! Seems to be a pretty rare boat. Very little info online. Pretty cool though. All told in pretty amazing condition. Floor is solid, transom looks good, no major dings or dents, and literally everything works! But, as with any...

    What Should I Look For?

Hey all... I'm looking to upgrade into a bigger boat with an inboard. Never had an inboard before (had a couple outboards), and since most of the used boats around me seem to be Mercruiser powered, I thought I'd post this here.... My primary concern with this purchase would be the mechanical...

    1973 Mercury 650 - General ?'s

I found this motor for a very fair price. It is a LONG way from me, so I had one mech question before I take a drive: The owner says it runs and starts fine at idle, but when you throttle someone has to hold onto the bulb (?) for it to run correctly, otherwise it stalls out. Any thoughts...

    Anyone Recognize This?

Does anyone recognize the vintage of this particular Evinrude? The guy trying to sell it to me doesn't know the year. He's fairly certain it is a 45 hp. He also THINKS it is a early 70's model. Also, I notice this particular motor is using a cable system for steering, which I currently do not...

    1988 Mercury 25HP Long

    1969 Larson - Big Project

Well, I've been monitoring this site for about a year after I bought my little junker. I always wanted a good project boat to start with just to see what I could do. And as it turns out on this 43 year old boat, nothing has ever really been done to it! She needs a bunch of work! Should be fun...

    1969 Larson - Transom Advice

Well... I've decided I need a project, likely a big one. Needless to say this old family boat is in need of a transom job. As you can see from the picture, getting to it is going to be an issue. My thought is to actually take off the entire cap. Any other thoughts?
