    Maybe a stupid question?

    Can not afford the downrigger that I want, but I do have a really heavy fishing pole. Could I use a downrigger weight on the heavy pole and clip my fishing pole line to the heavy pole line and use it as sort of a poor persons downrigger?

    Motor runs great, but I can not reach the shift lever on the side...What have you guys done that have my same issue?
