    johnson 40 hp idles poorly and kills on shifting

    Motor will only start with throttle advanced in neutral and runs poorly in idle. Will kill when shifting except if RPMs are still up. suspect it needs a caburator fix with either the slow speed orifices bad or the float not maintaining fuel level during power shifts. Any ideas?

    power tilt stops then restarts

    Power tilt on Johnson 1990 VRO 40 hp will start (up or down) then run for 5 seconds or so then stop. After waiting 10 seconds it will tilt some more. I suspect this is the overheat sensor on the electric motor, but don't know how to analyze this or fix it. The relays all stay in and power is...
