Tilted motor, spilled fuel. A lot.

So I took my boat out for its 2nd run, and everything still seems to be running smoothly. (1955 Evinrude Fleetwin Aquasonic 7.5 / 1952 16' Alumacraft) Beached my boat to drop the kids off. As I tilted the motor "up" into the horizontal position as to avoid dragging the prop in the sand, I...

Proper usage for 2 line pressure fuel tank

Being new to my boat and motor... I wanted to know a little more about using the pressure fuel tank I have. 50s era. Once I am under way and using the motor, I understand pressure is key. However, if I am trolling down the river, and its hot...do I need to constantly release the pressure? OR...

    How much smoke is ok?

While testing my 1955 Evinrude Fleetwin 7.5, I am noticing a fairly good amount of smoke. It isn't consistent and only lasts for about 5-10 seconds after start but its there. I am going 50/1 mixture. It hasn't ran very much over the past few years so am just wondering if it is kind of...

Duel Line Fuel Tank - (Cont.)

So I am just about there to getting my restored fuel tank and outboard fully functional and leak free. I am able to continuously get fuel to the motor. The only leak I am noticing on the fuel tank now is coming right out of the primer push button rod. Fairly significant, but not gushing. Am...

    Old Original Alumacraft Oars

I have what I am pretty darn sure are 4 (2 sets) or original 1950-ish Alumacraft oars that came with my boat. They are about ohhh... 7 - 8ft tall... solid pieces... They have, what I think is a leather cuff around the oar, and that is wrapped in the metal bracket with the insert, with the...

Pressure test 2 line fuel tank

Some of you may have seen my previous post about a fuel tank diaphragm... Well I used what I had, poked a hole in it, and put some new washers on. I am fairly certain, everything has been put back together properly and seated and sealed... This may be a dumb question... but how can I pressure...

If I recall... and I cant find it anymore, during my research, there was a site that stated the Fuel Foot Valve and Fuel Line had some sort of "check disc valve" inside of it??? And if its properly operating you should be able to shake the fuel foot valve and line and hear it rattle? Mine was...

So with my 1952 Alumacraft, came a 1950 ish fuel tank... Paint over Spar Urethane

Hi all... I found a bit on this, but wanted to clarify. I am in the process of brushing all of my decking platform plywood, and 2x4 framing with some spar urethane. Since it will be a "semi-permanent" deck, I wanted to ensure at least several years out of it before any wear and tear starts to...

If you had your choice of primer and paint....?

Hi all... So I made the mistake of going to a few auto body shops and asking them about self etching primers, and paint, and such... after some quotes of over $200 just for primer I figured I would come here. I have a '52 Alumacraft 16' tinny. Wire brushed down to bare aluminum, with the...

    Time to GluvIT!!!

Hey all... got my 1952 Alumacraft all wire brushed down the seam, transom, and some seepy rivets that need a little TLC. I am a little sketchy on the ratio of mixing. Obviously a 1:1 if I did the entire application. Which leads me to believe, I could break the application out into equal...
