    high speed slip

    '84 Johnson 4hp- great little motor- but noticed this season at high rpm it seems to slip (like it is taken out of gear)- only for a 1 sec or so- low speed all is fine. Shifts fine- this motor only has fwd/neutral. Could it be a clutch issue or ? :confused:

    Bringing it home...

    After a great season (mechanically and weather)- heading to ramp to pull it out -running along ~3200RPM- engine slowed and died- started right back up though- could get about 2200 rpm before you could feel the power decreasing again. I have not looked at the fuel system yet. Any other hints...

    pricing

    I want to sell my 1985 Johnson 4hp- long shaft. I went completely through the motor this winter- new fuel pump, rebuilt carb, new water pump. I cleaned and painted the entire motor also. It has always been in my family and probably has a total of 20 hours on it (tender time for a larger boat)...

    I replaced my built in 100gal fuel tank for my 260hp Mercruiser I/O- the old tank had a ball check valve on the fuel pickup at the tank- my new tank does not. I understand the ball check is installed by manufacturer for outboard applications- not really needed for I/O though- have not run yet...
