    5HP Oil Pressure Lamp

Even though it wont idle (carb needs cleaning) last warm day of the year, after a 12 hour work day, I'm taking it out to the lake. I did not know it was supposed to, but the oil pressure lamp never came on, but it ran good for the hour I had it out. Apparently it had oil pressure enough to run...

BF50 Leaks fuel out of top of carb.

PIcked one up an an estate sale, certainly has not run in years, since mice were really at home in there. It looked like it had almost never been used. Cleaned it up and it starts good, but gas dribbles out of the vent hole on the top of the carb. I'll rebuild it later but for now I'dj ust like...

    5 HP Motor Info Needed

Know very little about Honda outboard motors, at least so far. There is one coming up at an estate auction. Just says it a Honda 5 HP outboard. Ill check sn when I see it. Have they always been 4 stroke? I did find a sn sheet, but it appears that the 5HP came around in 1999 or 2001? Anything...

Apologize if this is a FAQ. I thought I found the information a while back but no longer locate it. I plant to redo all primary ignition wires, hopefully using the corresponding solid colors. i having a hard determining the proper gauge size, proper type of wire and a good vendor. The local...

    72' 7.5HP Crusty Wiring.

Might be part of my ongoing problems with getting this running. The more I work around the wires, that come from from the stator, the more I see them developing cracks, in the white and green wires. The top green wire had a good one, exposed copper, that I taped. Any fixes (or hope) for this...

    Bulk Carb Cleaner

I've been advised to give the 72" Merc carb, the old dunkeroo, for a thorough clean, but the only carb cleaner around here that is not a spray, is almost $30, for less than a gallon. Any alternatives?

    72' 7.5HP a good motor?

Still having the same problem,, where it wont run unless it's higher than 3/4 throttle and even then dies, when slowed down. Rebuilt carb, rebuilt fuel pump twice, got 100 (x2) psi compression, spark. did idle good for about 5 minutes, in the tank. Seems to be shifting good, as I did run it at...

    72' 7.5HP Pull flywheel

Have not received the manual yet (on order), but need to pull the flywheel, to check condition of wiring and ignition. Somewhere I read where it needs a special puller, but I noticed that it has 3 tapped holes in the top.

    Question on Merc Carbs

Do certain years of the same carburetors, not use as many gaskets? My manual shows the main jet has a gasket. Mine did not, but if I remember right, the jet was tapered, as was the seat. Also, there was no gasket on the idle tube, but on is indicated in the diagram. maybe it's my flooding problem.

    1972 7.5HP Won't Start Properly

Purchased this motor at an estate sale several years ago. Never had it running right. Initially the 3 internal fitted fuel lines, were rotted from either age or ethanol and were replaced, with OEM fitted hoses. Motor would never start and idle, in the normal, neutral, "start position", but...

1972 7.5 What to look at next

Motor has sat for several years with ethanol rotted fuel lines. finally replaced with factory lines. Motor started up right away in tub, but would not stay running, unless started in gear (not good in tub), fuel screen is clear. Put in pond started in gear ran real good for a while, now will...

    Air lines for Shop

I plan (eventually) to run compressed air from a larger compressor, to 3 (or so) connectors within a 3 car garage. I'd like to keep everything above the ceiling and inside the walls. Keep reading that some, are using PEX or other plastic tubing, with good results 1/2" or so, rating 150-200 psi...

100, or 200 amp service, to Garage

Plan to run 220V to 3 car detached garage, from 200 amp home service, about 65 feet or so, indirectly. I'll be running fairly large garage air compressor, stick welder, lights, maybe electric heat and A/C. Garage door openers. First off, do I even need 200 amp, or is there any advantage to...

    Quality Drill bits

DW uses 1/16" for her jewelry making. Been using the cheap (but plentiful) Harbor freight or the best(?) Menards has. They do all right but about the time they start getting dull, they usually break off inside the hole nearly flush with the drilling surface, usually impossible to remove, the...

04' Explorer Won't Go Into Park

MIL's 2004 Ford Explorer AWD, won't go into park. It will move up and out of reverse, but will still roll and of course, no steering lock and key removal. She stated a few years ago, that it once, would not come out of park. It had to be towed to the dealer, where they replace a "very...

    Iphone upgrade and Itunes

As much as I hated to to do it, there is no support on my 3G, plus most of the apps now run dog slow, so it's time. I think ATT is purposing killing it off, but that another thread. Anyway, got a iphone 5 coming, but don't know what all I need, to get everything from the old phone to the new...
