    I guess I should have asked this question before I tore into the motor, but.. The compression on my Merc Mark 58ae is as follows: #1 = 122 lbs. #2 = 119 lbs. #3 = 119 lbs. #4 = 120 lbs. This is OK, right?...I hope. What was the compression in these motors when they were brand-new?

    How much does this motor weigh? I want to put it on my 1961 Red Fish Shark, a 15' runabout that currently has a late-1950s or early-1960s Mercury Mark 58ae bolted to the transom. The Merc does not run, the Evinrude does. Both are 4-cylinders - the Merc is a straight-4 and the Evinrude is a V-4.
