I tore apart the lower unit of my motor tonight to replace my impeller. Found that the driveshaft seal has failed and is in need of replacement. To me it seems that it was installed upsidedown. Should the new one be flipped over or is it correct the way it is? I've always seen seals...

I have a 1980 Johnson 25 with the classic "wont idle unless the choke is pulled". Ive torn the carb apart and cleaned every passage, including all the caps to clean the idle passages. Motor runs great WOT and doesnt skip a beat when you punch it. I just cant seem to get it to idle...
