    72 johnson problem

    I have a 72 johnson 65hp engine. Starts good and sound good, except whe you push the throttle into gear it just revs the engine up and does not go into gear, reverse does the same. Any thought?? <br />Thanks

    1972 Johnson 65 hp makes squealing sound

    Boat has ran good all year. I went to start it the other day and it made a funny squealing sound when I turned the engine over, but started up??? it has done this a few times. i think it is trying to tell me something. Has anyone had this problem?

    1972 Johnson 65 hp won't idle

    turns over, but only run for a few seconds. new plugs, checked fuel line to the filter and pump. What else should I check. Thanks,

    Neutral start switch

    72 Johnson 65hp. won't try to turn over unless you put it in gear. Some one told me it was the neutral start switch. How would I go about fixing this. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

    Not sure what year...50th anniversay model. Does anyone know how to test and/or fix a neutral starting switch. my engine only turns over if you put it into gear??

    50th anniversary 65 hp johnson, wouldn't idle. Now when you try to start it it wont turn over unless you push the throttle into gear??? I know a boat only starts when it's in neutral...what let's the motor know it's in neutral???any thoughts Thanks, Shawn
