    1976 135 hp won't go forward but it will go reverse

    Motor has been sitting for a year and a half. I pumped out the old gas and install a new sending unit. I hooked up to the muffs and ran it. It ran fine,except when rev it too high it stay rev up.     Engine accelerates, what's wrong with it?

    My 1976 135 evinrude starts right up but when I give it alot of gas it tends to stick or accelerates. I would pull back off the gas but sometimes it would still runs high or accellerates. Is it because its on muffs and not on the water? I am scare to put it in the water. What is going on?
