I have a 50 hp '73 evinrude lark outboard engine,,,does this type motor have a overheat alarm horn or buzzer and if not how can i put one on it,,the SIMPLE WAY!
what causes a tach to ride up with nothing running, the needle, after a while after shutting down, will eventually indicate around 1500 rpm with nothing running, when the key is turned on the reading will go back to "0" why??? have i done something wrong??
when i let go of my steering wheel,,the sharply turns to the right! what is wrong and how can i correct this, as it is very dangerious if you dont hold on to the steering wheel tight.:%

can a shift cable be repaired, mine just broke at the control box outside the box where the four wires are exposed, i believe there are five wires with the main wire in the middle.:'(
1973 50 Hp Evinrude lower unit has broken two bolts, re-threaded both but only one of the two will except bolt,,will the remaining 4 bolts be enough to keep the Lower unit in place and also using a lower unit adhesive like Gasket maker #2.
I finally got my engine running and water pump system working as best as it can i guess.,,, how fast should i be able to go with the 50 hp evinrude pushing a 14'4" fiberglass ranger boat. All i can muster is around 27 knots
I tried what i was advised, changed impellers, all seals, but still dont have water coming out the exhaust relief ports as stated,, the water still comes out at the bottom of the shaft near the prop or above the prop. this is a Evinrude 50 hp lark.
I need to know how you can tell if the water pump is working on this motor i have been told the water comes out at the bottom of the motor near the prop? is this true i see water coming out when it is running and it is warm.:%
