    Piston pictures 30 vs. std

    1973 50 HP Evinrude 50373R I'm about to put my engine back together after having the bottom cylinder bored. But I noticed the 30 over piston is somewhat different than my standard one. 1) The ports are shaped different 2) The ring groves are farther from the top Is this normal? Thanks

    Why did my ring break?

    (1973 Evinrude 50HP) I need your thoughts on all the possible reasons a new ring (closest to crank) could break less than 10 hrs after being replaced. I honed the cylinder walls, checked the ring gap tolerances, checked that the cylinder was round, ran extra oil in the gas, etc. I can't afford...

    hole in the water tube

    I have a 1973 50HP Evinrude. I noticed a small (maybe 1/16") hole in the water tube that travels through the exhuast housing. It looked very round almost as if it was there for a reason. Could this be?

    Stator Sticky Stuff

    (1973 50HP Evinrude) I have brown sticky stuff dripping from the stator on to the top of the block. (back only) Is this a sign of overheating or just an old stator? Is there anything I can do to stop it? It seems to function fine. Thanks
