I am new to boating and have not fully understood the function of trimming the motor. Once I have left the dock I put it all the way down so my boat is not bouncing on the water, is this the right procedure?

Next week I am planning on mooring my boat in salt water for the first time. It will be in salt for at least two months, do I have to change any parts for this short period of time? Will I see any rust in just two months?

for some reason the transom does not want to go up or down until the motor has been turned on, is this normal?
All i hear is clicking sound when I push the downward button. I have cleaned the battery terminals and topped up the fluid.
