    Need to find out if lower units are compatible

    I need to replace the lower unit on my 1984 15hp longshaft evinrude motor. What is the best way to to find out what other year model lower units are compatible? The one I am looking at buying is off a 1974 johnson model 15r745 would this fit?

    Is it possible to change a 9.9 to a 15hp

    Looking to get a little mor power out of my 84 9.9 evinrude. Is it true the only differences in the carb jet. Can I just put new jet in or do I have to put a new carb in and make other changes as well.?

    1984 15 hp evinrude- lower unit drain hole plugged

    I bought a 15 hp used only to discover that the lower unit drain hole was plugged with an epoxy or something , probably because previous owner stripped threads. So I have taken off the lower unit to try to get lube in there. I pulled the drive shaft out as well. Can I fill the lube through that...

    Dropping lower unit problem

    I have a 15 hp 1984 evinrude that I have to drop lower unit on .I unscrewed the 6 bolts and the unit will drop about 2 inches but no more. Should I remove the shift rod pivot screw on the lower unit or should it drop out without removing that. Thanks
