    Compression on 83' 70hp Johnson

    I'm looking at buying an 83' 70hp Johnson, I did a compression test and the top cylinder was at 100 psi the middle was at 120 and the lower was 140. The motors sat up for a couple years and does not run. does the range from top to bottom sound bad? thanks for any help

    Cruising RPMs on a 76' 85 Johnson

    Any body have any suggestions on cruising RPMs for a '76 85hp Johnson? I run about 5000 at WOT, is it safe to run that for very long? Thanks for any help

    Ran aground twice, am I ok?

    I ran my 1976 85hp Johnson aground twice the other day. Just the lower unit hit the sand and I was able to just push thru. do you think I may have done any damage, the transom is fine, and i flushed the engine for about 20 mins after I got in. Thanks for any help

    I have a 1976 85 hp Johnson that is smoking and all four plugs are keep getting soaked with oil, I also have oil/gas leaking out of the air breather. Does anyone out there know what kind of problem this it?? I am running a 50:1 oil/gas ratio. I am also experiencing power loss. I am new to...
