    How tight to make the prop gear carrier 9.9 Merc?

    I just replaced the water pump (easy :) ) and the prop shaft seal on my 1987 Mercury 9.9; apparently there were two versions, one used a single seal, the other two seals back to back. It goes without saying that the shop gave me the wrong set (in this case the wrong set was the two seals:mad:)...

    Long shaft on a short shaft transom...problem or no?

    Hi; I just got a great deal on an 1987 Mercury 9.9 long shaft, I was looking for a short shaft but it was not to be! My concern is about running the long shaft on a 14ft Lund designed for a short shaft. The boat will currently plane with 2 people in it and fishing gear using the current 1982...

    I searched, really I did! but can't find year of 9.9

    ser# 0B187273 I checked this site and googled the question as well....got lead all over the place but still can't determine the year of this 9.9. Anyone able to help me...feel free to flame me if need be......after I learn the year of the O/B....;)
