    Bouncing E-Tecs

Twin 200HP E-Tecs. When tilting down from the raised position (or basically anything above the upper trim limit), the motors bounce like crazy. All that stops when it hits the upper trim limit. It then trims smoothly to the lowest position. Any ideas why they bounce or how to stop it?

    Rocker switch ID

Just bought a 'new to me' 2007 Wellcraft Coastal 270. There is a rocker switch on the dash with a 12v battery symbol on it. I'm not sure if it's not doing anything or what it might be for. Any thoughts? Dual battery system with separate on/off switches for each battery.

    Cost of Canvas!

Re: Cost of Canvas! And a good used machine will set you back $500-$800. You can sell it as long as you don't mess it up. Industrial machine mechanics get $75/hr. That adds up, too! Here's the difference between professional and DIY (in most cases):

Fridge only runs on shore power now

Re: Fridge only runs on shore power now Here is a trouble shooting guide for your fridge: 1) Turn power on and turn thermostat to "7" position (Go to #2) 2) Is the compressor running? (put your hand on top to feel slight vibration to be sure). If Yes-Go to #14. If No-Go to #3 3) Is the DC...

    How to fix upholstery panel?

Re: How to fix upholstery panel? Pull the rotted plywood panels off and either repair or make new ones. Cut 1 1/2" holes in the backs of the panels and install with speed clips, which are surface mounted to the inside of the hull. Panels are then removeable by simply pulling upward which allows...

Help w Canvas issue: Snaps for canvas-to-canvas application?

Re: Help w Canvas issue: Snaps for canvas-to-canvas application? These are called shock cords. They are a great item and really prolong the life of the canvas after it shrinks, but that won't help him with this little gap. After reading his first post, I was under the impression he was trying...

    Underwater lights

Re: Underwater lights 3 things to consider when installing underwater lights: 1) Type of water you're boating in. It isn't in your profile, but if you have clear water, they look great. If the water is murky, they are useless. I have underwater lights and in the iced tea I boat in, they are...

    question on carpet

Re: question on carpet I disagree. Carpet doesn't belong on a fishing boat. It does belong on a cruiser or other vessel where comfort matters. This is the cockpit carpet on my boat. It's marine carpet, snapped in (easily removable), easy to clean, and cool underfoot on hot summer days. It...

Connection to Shore Power at Marinas

Re: Connection to Shore Power at Marinas They also have this connection (50a to dual 30a splitter). I carry one as I have been to marinas which may only have a slip available that has a 50a connection. So, ypu only have to carry your 30acords and a single splitter. No issue.

Had to cut loose the anchor...how does this happen?

Re: Had to cut loose the anchor...how does this happen? In the future, attach your chain to the top of the anchor, just above the flukes. Run the chain up the shank and attach with wire ties or bailing wire. If the anchor becomes jammed in again, the wire/wire ties break, and allow removal from...

Cushion backing attachment for open bow???

Re: Cushion backing attachment for open bow??? From a 20 year upholsterer: NO SNAPS (they won't hold the weight)! NO VELCRO (EVER!!!) Coaming pads, backrests, trim panels, etc should be hung with these brackets. They are held on with 2 small SS screws and spaced approx. 18"-24" apart. The new...

    Fixing upholstery...

Re: Fixing upholstery... I was ready for a barrage of insults back from the person that posted the comment, not the positive comments that came this way. To all of you who backed me...thank you very much! A lot of people have that same thought regarding upholstery..."fold it over and staple it...

    LED transom lights

Re: LED transom lights You shouldn't need to sand them down. You're going to bed them in with 5200 and that should take up any uneven surface issues. You sand the bottom paint a bit if you have any really big areas that need to be faired, but no need to go to the gelcoat. I have both white and...

    Google redirect malware - help!!

Got jammed up with a Root directory malware that I can't seem to shake. Ran full scans with Spyware Doctor and Spyware Hunter and it dumped most of the bugs, but there is a Google Redirect bug that keeps hijacking webpages on me. Usually sends me to benign pages, but it's becoming a real pain...

Re: dual battery hook up The first pic is if you have a battery switch. Just imagine the O/B as your inboard and you'll be fine. If no battery switch, go with the second pic.

    Bayliner fish well

Re: Bayliner fish well Is the hole in the bottom of your livewell or up near the top. If it's near the top, that's for incoming water. On the bottom? That's for outgoing water. If it's on the bottom, there should be a plastic tube that goes in there (the standpipe) so the water drains out...

Thinking of getting a Center console

Re: Thinking of getting a Center console I have a friend that has a 21' Mako CC with an in-console head. I laughed at it until he told me to step in. I'm 6' 3" and 220 lbs. Plenty of room going in and getting out...even sitting room. I was surprised. As far as CC variety, we always ski, fish...

Thinking of getting a Center console

Re: Thinking of getting a Center console I went from a bowrider to a walk-around cuddy and then to a center console. I loved it. If you're boating in the ocean, make sure you don't get the low-freeboard 'bay' boat. Stick with something like a Pro-line, Angler, or the like. You don't have to...
