    Hard starting when warm

    Weight of wet foam

    I am assuming my boat has saturated foam and I am wondering how much weight saturated foam adds to a 16' boat. The difference in speed I reach with 2 people vs 4 people is pretty dramatic and the additional 2 people are kids.

    Can I do it?

    I'm thinking about rebuilding my LU. At a minimum I need new seals. Can a reasonably handy guy pull it off, and are special tools needed? If it's something I can attack, what is the best source (price/selection) for older Mercury parts? I see the price of parts varies quite a bit.

    Throttle adjustment

    How do I adjust my throttle control (Mercontrol) so the (new) cable moves about 3/4"-1" more when I put the throttle forward? I can either have speed, or a nice low idle on mine, but not both unless I can figure out a way to accomplish this. 1964 MFG Westfield 16' 1964 Mercury 65 HP

    Suggestions please

    1964 16' MFG Westfield with 1964 Mercury 65 HP. Took it out today for the first time and while it ran great, I was expecting a bit more speed. Currently the prop is 3 blade with a 15 pitch. Would I notice a difference changing props on something this old, or am I probably seeing all it has to offer?

    Would it work?

    I'm in the process of painting my 1964 MFG and I was wondering if I could use ratchet straps from the garage truss to the loops on the front and back of boat to lift a few inches off trailer. Boat is 16' and motor is removed. Would my garage support this? I assume it will. It's just a few years old.
