    Question re: actual hp

    I bought a rebuilt 1991 70 hp motor. It says 70 on the cover. It runs great. When I looked at the model number on the motor, it shows that the motor is a 60 hp. Should I have any reason to doubt the cover?

    VRO is Disconnected but Alarm is Sounding.

    Have a remanufactured 1991 Johnson 70 with a disconnected VRO. Just fired it up for the first time and I get an intermittent alarm. Is there any easy way for a novice like me to disconnect the alarm or should I take it to the shop? I appreciate any responses.

    Hello. Great forum here and I hope somebody can help me out. I'm a novice at the outboard thing but I think I just bought a remanufactured 1991 Johnson 70 hp outboard. The model number suggests it's a 60hp. I paid for a 70. Is there a chance I actually have a 70 despite the model number...
